The 6 books I’ll be reading on the beach this summer

book_beach

After my post on the 6 books you should be reading on the beach this summer I started thinking about what books I’ll be taking with me on my holidays. Unfortunately I won’t be going anywhere near a beach for another three months but that doesn’t mean I haven’t already started thinking about what books I’ll be packing.

It’s at this time of year that I start to wonder whether my refusal to own an e-reader was misjudged. It really would be so handy to have a whole library in my suitcase without having to worry about going over the baggage restrictions. But I just can’t do it. So I’ll sacrifice the amount of clothes I take to make sure I can fit that extra book in.

So if you’ve read any of these – am I right to be saving them for the beach? Or would they be more suited to a windy evening in autumn? A lazy Sunday in winter?

1. The Tenant of Wildfell Hall by Anne Bronte

2. I Was Told There’d Be Cake by Sloane Crosley

3. We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves by Karen Joy Fowler

4. The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows

5. I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith

6. Dandelion Clocks by Rebecca Westcott
